Introduction
This user guide provides an overview, behaviour and quick tips for Android devices with Work Profile. The most important thing to understand when using a Work Profile is that you need to have all apps required to perform your work downloaded and installed in your Work Profile and how to keep work data.

Overview of the Android Work Profile
Accessing and Installing Work Apps
1. To access the Work Profile and work apps, swipe up on the homescreen. | 2. Tap on the 'Work' profile tab at the bottom of the screen. Work apps are marked with a work badge (briefcase icon) to distinguish them from personal apps. To switch back to your personal profile, tap on the 'Personal' profile tab | 3. To install additonal work apps, tap on the 'Play Store' inside the work profile. This version of the Play Store is managed by DPE and provides you access to additional work specific apps. Public apps can also be installed in the work profile from here. |
4. You will see the normal play store with an additional tab for 'Work Apps'. This list may include work specific apps that are available to you. To install an app, tap on its icon. | 5. To install an app, tap on the app icon then tap on 'Install' to initiate the download. Once installed, it will now show up in your work profile. |
Data Restrictions with Work Profile
The Work profile allows security for sensitive work data. There are restrictions on how data can be shared between the work and personal profile. Generally, data cannot be moved from the work profile to the personal profile but personal data can be shared to the work profile.
Examples
Attaching files to an email in Outlook
1. Open Outlook and tap 'New email' or reply from an existing email | 2. From the compose screen, tap the attachment icon | 3. Tap on either option depending on your file(s) |
4. Choose the file/photo you would like to attach to your email Note: you can switch between storage in your personal and work profile |
Opening attachments from Outlook
1. Open the email with attachment(s). The attachments will be listed at the top. | 2. Tap on the attachment to open the attachment For PDFs, the file can be viewed in OneDrive but if any Adobe functionality is required, you will need to install Adobe Reader from the work profile Play Store. For Microsoft files (word, excel, powerpoint, etc), they can be viewed but if further functionality like editing is required, please install the relevant app - MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint in the work profile. For other files, ensure you have the right app in order to open them. |
Saving Attachments from Outlook
1. Open the email with attachment(s). Tap the '3 dots icon' next to the attachment. | 2. Under Save to, select where the attachment will be saved. Storage account = OneDrive Device = locally on your device |
Pausing the Work Profile
The Work Profile can be paused from the Quick Settings menu when you no longer want to receive notifications from work profile apps such as when on leave.
1. To pause the work profile, swipe down from the top of the screen to access the notifications menu and quick settings. The quick settings can be expanded by swiping down once more. | 2. Swipe to the next screen to view additional quick settings toggles. | 3. Tap on the 'Work profile' toggle to pause the apps and notifications associated with work. |
4. To edit/move any quick settings toggles, tap on the 3 dots at the top right and select 'Edit Buttons'. You can move the Work profile toggle to the first 6 icons as they will appear first. |
